‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Movie Gets Official Title: ‘The Legend of Aang’
“Avatar”– the master of the four elements and not the blue alien creatures created by James Cameron — graced the main stage at CinemaCon, the annual convention of movie theater owners that’s currently unfolding in Las Vegas.
Well, sorta. Paramount didn’t preview any footage of the film, based on the popular “Avatar: The Last Airbender” television series, though the studio did unveiled the official title: “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender.”
Previously titled “Aang: The Last Airbender,” the film takes place in a world divided into four nations — Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation and Air Nomads. Benders have the ability to control and manipulate the natural element from their nation, but only the Avatar is the master of all four. Plot details haven’t been revealed but the movie is expected to pick up years after the events of 2005’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” which followed then-12-year-old Aang — a long-lost Avatar who learned to master the elements and save the globe from the ruthless Fire Nation.
Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun and Eric Nam are headlining the voice cast for the film, which is co-directed by Lauren Montgomery and William Mata. “The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender” is slated to hit theaters on Jan. 30, 2026.
Also during its CinemaCon presentation, Paramount Animation hyped up the upcoming releases of “Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2,” “Smurfs” and “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.”
“Family films are an integral part of our strategy here at Paramount,” said Paramount Animation’s president Ramsey Naito.
